Production Diary 5

This week we have decided to focus on audience research. Multiple pieces of research has been done on different group members blogs. I have completed the questionnaire research which can be found here and here.
We have also interviewed some people asking them questions on their favourite film openings, these can be found here & here. This helped us gain more knowledge on what people were interested and it gave us some ideas for our opening sequence.

Final Chosen Logo

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 17.11.08
This is our final logo idea we feel like it is very professional and fits with the horror film genre. Its simple but effective and is very bold. Its meant to catch the viewers eyes and make them jump which will make them remember the logo.

Production Diary 3

This week we have decided to start on our preliminary task. This is so we get a idea on how to film and what needs to be done and to give us a idea on the main shots that we should use. We shot ours in a plain classroom and used the main shots which were:
- Match on action
-180 Degree rule
- Shot reverse shot
Then we got the characters to exchange some dialogue. This helped us work as a team and stitch the shots together.

Preliminary Task; Slaughterhouse Productions

 This is my groups preliminary task. For this task our brief was to create a short scene using 3 main shots, these shots were 180-degree rule, match on action and shot reverse shot. By doing this it taught me how to use the shots correctly with a context. I was a actor in the production along with Fay while Alice and Hannah were filming.

180-degree rule;
From doing this preliminary task I learnt that the 180 degree rule is where the shot is only on the 180 degree angle. This means that the characters that are in shot keep the same left\right relationship and stops the audience getting confused.

Match on action
I learnt that march on action is a editing technique that is commonly used to cut from one shot to another zooming onto the action that has just taken place. It connections the 2 shots to show what the character is doing. It shows the character finishing what they are doing in the 1st shot in the 2nd shot from a different angle or zoomed in.

Shot Reverse Shot
f I learnt that shot reverse shot is a technique spilt into 3 shots. It can be of one character looking at one thing off camera then the camera pans to that certain thing on camera then pans back to the first character. This can normally be used in conversation with to characters, this is how we used it in our prelim task.

Preliminary Task Script

 This is the script that we have created for our preliminary task. We used this to have a base to follow and to make sure that we are staying on task. We had a few targets that we needed to add to make sure our preliminary task was suitable. The 3 targets were shots we needed to add in.
The shots were;

  • Match On Action
  • 180 Degree Rule
  • Shot Reverse Shot.

This is what we believe will be and good and interesting idea. We have done a bit of research and ideas planning as well as what our film will be called and what we are going to call our production company.
